A 跳舞 Celebrating 50 years of Northwood Women

The creative process for this trimester’s elective, 编舞的头脑, began with a series of questions: What are you passionate about? What have you discovered about yourself while here at Northwood? If you could create any dance piece, what would it look like? What message do you want to communicate to your audience? From these questions bloomed a beautiful response from three students doing a group choreography project together.

In fall 2016, Su Hae Jang came to Northwood as a ninth-grader. 伊曼尼·霍曼也是如此. Su Hae would be known here as Jessica; her home was in Seoul. 伊玛尼来自康涅狄格州. In their first week, both girls signed up for the 机组人员. They were similar in size--small, by rowing's eccentric standards--and much different in personality. 玛丽哈代

As I look back on my 51 years at Northwood, my pick for the most beloved person ever to work on our staff would be 玛丽哈代, our school nurse from 1977-2000. If the Guinness Book of World Records could quantify compassion, 耐心, 和仁慈, she would be a contender for number one in every category.

We are back in action after our Ring the Bell Campaign. Today we have a powerhouse Tom Fleming squad (27-1-1) from 1987 versus a great team from Mark Morris’s first stint coaching here, one which established a school record for wins in one season with 40. 

Both squads had lots of firepower, strong goaltending and great leadership. Even more than our extraordinary winning records, the number of college captains or alternate captains we have produced is astonishing.
